Sprint To Sell HTC Hero Google Android Phone by Mike on September 3, 2009

HTC Hero Google Android Phone Sprint

Sprint has announced that they will carry the HTC Hero, a cell phone designed upon Google’s Android operating system. Sprint customers will be able to purchase the new phone on October 11th for $179.99 after rebate and upon signing a two year unlimited data plan contract that will cost an additional $69.99 per month.

Similar to the T-Mobile HTC Android phones, the Hero supports Google services such as Google Maps, YouTube and Gmail. The phone will also come with WiFi support, a camcorder, 5MP digital camera, an accelerometer, GPS and standard headphone jacks.

According to Kevin Packingham, senior vice president of product development for Sprint, “With the dependability and coverage of Sprint’s 3G network, HTC Hero users will appreciate a much better experience than is possible now with any other Android phone operating in the United States.”
