By: MM Networ
Google Inc., the leading internet search firm has approached the European publishers by providing them with the appropriate concessions to successfully implement the Google Books project.

Google Books project seeks to make some of the rare books available online. In this respect the European Commission was to analyze the proposal made by Google. Some concerns were raised by the European copyright holders where they fear collapse of their exclusive.

To resolve the matter and look after the raised issues Google is planning to appoint two European representatives to a registry that oversees the project of which one would be the representative for authors and one for publishers.

The European Commission is examining the settlement reached by Google with the US author and publisher groups on a copyright infringement. At the same time it is analyzing the affect of the settlement on copyright holders in the European Union.

Currently, Google is only scanning European books that are over 150 years of age to avoid infringing copyrighted material.

By far, Google's plan to build up a digital library has raised rage among Internet rivals such as Microsoft Corp., Yahoo Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. They have joined “The Open Alliance” to counter Google’s move to develop an online library.
