Steve Bruce will give Michael Turner his Sunderland debut against his old club Hull after signing him for around £6m on deadline day. The centre-back will be replaced at the heart of the Hull defence by the Senegal international Ibrahima Sonko, who has joined on loan from Reading. Sunderland could face a crisis behind Turner as both Marton Fulop and Craig Gordon are doubts with heel and knee problems respectively. Hull will be missing Caleb Folan, who is believed to be talking to Middlesbrough about a move to the Riverside. Richard Flower
