Ahead of the official Palm launch of its Palm Pre WebOS smartphone, the PlayBite press event this week will apparently give journalists a chance to have a hands-on session with the device.
The 15 September event, according to PC Advisor, will showcase Christmas wares of big brands Sony, Netgear and SanDisk, as well as the "Palm - UK launch of the 'iPhone killer' Palm Pre".
The Palm Pre will go on sale in Ireland, UK and Germany with Telefónica O2 but is not expected to hit stores until sometime in October.
While it has been previously billed as the first smart phone to sync seamlessly with the iTunes library, Apple's recent iTunes 9 update has broken this for the second time.
Previously, John Traynor, VP of business products for Palm, has stated on the official Palm blog: "Oh, and one more thing: Palm webOS 1.1 re-enables Palm media sync. That's right - you once again can have seamless access to your music, photos and videos from the current version of iTunes (8.2.1)."
On 4 August, Palm filed a complaint with the USB Implementers Forum alleging that Apple was restricting trade by not allowing the Palm re or other devices to sync with iTunes.
